PAL & RPAL COURSES
Lethbridge PAL and RPAL courses taught by an experienced Certified CFSC Instructor.
PAL COURSE
What is a PAL ? Why do you need one.
The PAL course is the Canadian Firearms Safety Course all Canadians must take in order to apply for a Possession Acquisition Firearms License (PAL). A PAL is required to purchase rifles, shotguns, or ammunition. Minors over the age of 12 must take this course to qualify for a Minor’s permit they can convert to a PAL when they turn 18.
RPAL COURSE
What is an RPAL? Do I need one?
The RPAL is a restricted firearms license. It is required to own restricted firearms and ammunition. To take the RPAL course, one needs to be 18 years old and hold a PAL or have successfully completed the PAL course. I encourage all students under 40 to get their Restricted license. We will discuss the reasons in the Non-restricted class. We hold 4 Restricted courses a year. Enrol/Course Dates

Why Choose Us?
1. Modern, fully functioning firearms
We have purchased firearms either manufactured for teaching purposes or we have altered modern functioning firearms according to the high standards set by the Alberta Chief Firearms Officer. Our firearms are comparable to any modern firearm you are likely to use after you obtain your PAL.
2. Multiple firearms of the most common actions
While some instructors meet minimum standards and supply one each of the required firearms, we have found students benefit from more hands-on practice with the most commonly used firearms – bolt action rifles and pump action shotguns. We supply two of each of these firearms.
3. Teaching Assistants
Every student should have the type of instruction that enables them to learn best. By hiring experienced teaching assistants, we are able to dedicate personal instruction time to students. Think of it as having tutors for those who prefer one.
4. Experienced, entertaining, and professional instruction.
Teaching over 300 students each year, we work very hard to maintain our skills and knowledge. We incorporate the wisdom gained through years of teaching. The course is 8 hours, so the quick pace while telling stories to keep the information relevant is a common reason our students love our courses!
5. We incorporate students feedback and needs.
When we read the course evaluations, we learn what our students found most helpful, and occasionally, what we did that was less effective. For example, we learned that the lighting in the room interfered with their ability to read the screen clearly. Therefore we found a way to get new audiovisual resources.
Students consistently express appreciation for the stories we tell to apply the lessons so we take the time needed to include them.
6. Certified proctors
Our assistants apply to the chief firearms officer to be approved proctors. This includes criminal background checks and a code of conduct agreement. The proctors are authorized to administer your written exams while the instructor administers the practical exams. This ensures we meet the time expectations set out by the program while being extremely efficient with your time.
7. Large facility with modern teaching aids.
We rent a room that is ideally sized for the activity. During the lecture portions of the course, students have enough space and can see easily, yet are in close proximity to the instructor when needed. The space can then be easily adjusted for the practical parts and students again have both space and proximity.
The program requires the practical exam be given in a separate room so we have one.
8. Thank you gifts for every student
Who doesn’t like free stuff?
Our courses are usually full a month in advance, and some students do not wish to wait for the next opening in a course with us. We understand that not all courses are the same. These are some of the reasons you should consider registering for our course even if it’s a little longer wait than you expected.
We offer the best value and best education we can. We guarantee satisfaction. Firearms Safety Education is important – choose wisely.
